Browser extension privacy policy
For the SAFER X REDACT extension for Chrome and Edge. Last updated 2 October 2026. Publisher: Raphael Amponsah, Accra, Ghana.
The short version
The extension exists so that sensitive data in your prompts never leaves your computer. It would make no sense for it to send that data to us, and it does not. Nothing you type, nothing you browse, and nothing about you is sent to the publisher or to any third party.
What the extension reads
Only the text in the prompt box on the supported AI sites (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Bing Chat, Mistral, Perplexity, Poe and You.com), and only at the moment you press send or Enter. It does not read the rest of the page, your conversation history, other tabs, cookies, or anything on sites that are not on that list.
Where that text goes
To the SAFER X REDACT desktop app running on your own computer, at
http://localhost:7731. That address is your machine
talking to itself; the text never crosses the network. The app
replaces names, account numbers, phone numbers, emails, ID numbers and
similar items with realistic stand-ins and hands the cleaned text back
to the extension, which then lets the AI site receive it. If the app is
not running, the extension blocks the send rather than letting the
original text through.
What is stored, and where
- In your browser: whether protection is switched on, a random install id used to count seats, and session statistics (how many prompts were checked, how many items were swapped, and the type of each item, for example "Person" or "Account number"). The extension never stores the original or replacement values. Session statistics are cleared when the browser closes.
- On your computer: the desktop app keeps an audit log of what it redacted, so you can show an auditor what happened. That log lives in your user folder and stays there.
What is never collected
- No prompts, cleaned or original, leave your computer through the extension.
- No files, no browsing history, no page content from any site.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reports, advertising identifiers or tracking of any kind.
- Nothing is sent to the publisher. We have no server that the extension talks to. It has exactly one network destination, your own computer.
- Nothing is sold, shared or transferred to anyone, for any purpose.
Licence checks
The extension asks the desktop app whether a licence is active. The app answers from the licence file on your computer. The store website (this site) only ever sees a buyer's name, email and payment reference at the time of purchase, which is covered by the licence terms, not by the extension.
Permissions, and why
- Access to the AI sites listed above: to read the prompt box and pause the send until the text is cleaned.
- Access to localhost:7731: to reach the desktop app on your computer.
- Storage: for the on/off switch, the install id and session counts described above.
- Alarms: to check every 15 seconds that the desktop app is still running, so the toolbar badge is accurate.
The extension contains no remote code. Everything it runs ships inside the extension package the store reviewed.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date. It will not change in a way that starts collecting data: that would defeat the product.
